Introduction
It has been a few years since I last actively shared on my blog.
But in 2026, I made a decision to refocus, reset, and begin sharing again with intention.
So first, Happy New Year.
And welcome to a new month February.
This post is not just an update.
It’s a reflection of growth, transition, and learning to trust God’s plan over my own.
A Season of Transition
Recently, I entered a new season of life.
A season that required me to slow down and focus deeply on what matters most my family.
As many of you know, I have two young boys. They need me daily, and without a nanny, it has been just my husband and I navigating parenting, work, and life together.
It hasn’t been easy.
But through it all, God has been faithful.
With the support of family and His grace, we’ve been able to manage and continue moving forward.
My Background in Social Work and Public Health
This blog is also an extension of my previous platform, where I often spoke about health and wellness.
Professionally, I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work, with an undergraduate background in Public Health.
Over the years, I’ve worked across different areas within social services but interestingly, I never saw myself working in the mental health field.
And yet, here I am.
Working in Mental Health: A Calling I Didn’t Expect
I have now been working in the mental health field for about three years.
It has been one of the most challenging and at the same time, most rewarding experiences of my career.
In my role at a state hospital, I help patients navigate systems that can often feel overwhelming. I assist with:
- Social Security applications
- Medicaid
- Food assistance programs
While there are many challenges I cannot control, I focus on doing what I can making even a small difference in someone’s life.
And that, in itself, is meaningful.
A Moment That Now Makes Sense
Looking back, I realize this journey didn’t start recently.
In 2015, during my second year of graduate school, I participated in a two-week study abroad program in India.
Originally, I planned to go to Germany but I made a last-minute decision to switch.
That decision changed everything.
During that trip:
- We visited hospitals and orphanages
- We learned about different healthcare systems
- We attended an international mental health symposium
At the time, I didn’t think much of it.
But now, years later, I see the connection.
What I experienced then was preparing me for where I am today.
Trusting God’s Placement
Life has a way of bringing you exactly where you need to be even when you don’t understand it at the time.
There have been moments where I questioned my path.
Moments where I wondered if I should be doing something else.
One major example was when I received an interview opportunity from a top institution I had always dreamed of working for Johns Hopkins.
Ironically, that opportunity came while I was in orientation for my current role.
I had a decision to make.
In the end, I stayed.
And today, I truly believe that was God’s direction for my life.
Health Is More Than Physical
One thing I’ve come to understand deeply is this:
Health is not just physical.
Health includes:
- Mental health
- Spiritual health
- Emotional health
- Even financial stability
You can have wealth but lack peace.
You can look healthy but struggle internally.
For me, the biggest shift came when I started focusing on my spiritual health.
The Role of Spiritual Growth
As I began to grow spiritually, I noticed something important:
Growth comes with resistance.
There are challenges.
There are distractions.
There are moments of doubt and pressure.
But I’ve learned that:
The spiritual often controls the physical.
When your foundation is strong spiritually, it begins to influence every other area of your life.
Balancing Life’s Many Roles
Life doesn’t slow down.
We are constantly balancing:
- Motherhood
- Careers
- Business goals
- Relationships
- Faith commitments
Each area demands time, energy, and attention.
And while it can feel overwhelming, I’m learning to navigate it one day at a time with grace.
Final Thoughts
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:
You don’t have to rush your journey.
You don’t have to compete with anyone else.
What is meant for you will find you.
And when it does, you’ll realize that every step every delay, every redirection was part of a bigger plan.
Closing Reflection
I’m still growing.
I’m still learning.
I’m still becoming.
But I trust that I am exactly where I need to be.
If this resonated with you, share it with someone who may need encouragement
And if you’re navigating a season of uncertainty, remember:
Your path is unfolding even when you can’t see it yet.
