It is truly good health that is the real wealth, and not pieces of gold and silver. We live in a world where most people are interested in accumulating wealth by any means possible. However, this global pandemic that all of us are currently facing has thought lawmakers that there must be substantial focus on the mental and public health of individuals living in the United States (US). As of today, statistics shows that over 600,000 individuals have passed away from Covid-19. In as much as the death rates have slowed down, however, the number of cases has started increasing again. Also, many individuals who are fully vaccinated are contracting the virus, thus, making it difficult for some people to see the benefit of getting the Covid vaccine.
Why is Health truly Wealth?
It is true that a person can acquire lots of wealth, but if their physical and mental health is not great, there would be little to no peace of mind. I urge people to never ignore their health to avoid negative consequences in the future. Bad health choices can catch up with a person when he/she gets older. When I was pregnant with my first child in the middle of the pandemic, I tried to remain active no matter how little. I completed house chores, walked outdoors, stretched my body, drove, and danced. Self-care was beneficial to the state of my mental health and helped me to remain positive amid lockdowns and chaos. These behaviors impacted my unborn son positively because he is such a strong child now, and he is very active as well. In other words, behavior modifications do not only affect us, but it also affects those around us, such as our loved ones.
Our Healthcare System
I strongly believe that if the US can adopt a universal health care system, more people might be willing to receive medical care without worrying about the finance. I live in the State of Maryland (MD) and the good news for residents of my State is that there are good rates online for health insurance coverage. One can check out the link at marylandhealth. Hopefully, more people can access this website and find a health insurance plan that they can afford. For those who live in other States, I urge you to speak with a health insurance agent today to find out about health insurance plans in your State. This can reduce out-of-pocket costs when the need arises. Medicaid is also a good option for those who qualifies. Above all, I urge everyone to try and make their health a priority even as we navigate a world full of challenges.

February 20, 2022The points you make are so very true! Being a Public Health student myself, the U.S healthcare system is always a topic of discussion. I believe universal healthcare would be a great answer to the issues we have in our system as it has great, positive impact on the health of other countries’ populations and they way they view their health.
I also am a firm believer in health being true wealth. Mental, physical, and spiritual health is what keeps up feeling positive and gives us joy in the life we live, not materialistic things. This is a great piece of work!
